Colosseum ticket prices in 2026: official rates, platforms and discounts
What each ticket really costs, what you pay extra elsewhere, and what for
The Colosseum costs €18 on the official ticket office, plus a €2 online fee, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill included; the arena floor, the underground or the attic raise the ticket to €24 plus €2. EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2, under-18s enter free. On the platforms, the same Colosseum sells from €25 with an audio guide, and from €39 with a guide — dearer, but often still available when the official site says sold out. This page details both, and what justifies the gap.
The skip-the-line ticket with audio guide is €25 depending on the date, next place on Tuesday 13 October. The guided tour with the ticket included is from €39 to €55, from Friday 25 September.

The prices of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo's ticket office. The reduced rate applies to EU citizens aged 18 to 25; under-18s enter free. Every ticket bought online carries a €2 booking fee, including reduced and free tickets.

The park's educational tour of the underground brings the Full Experience Underground ticket to €32. The night tour price breaks down into a €24 ticket and €26 for the guide; children under 6 do not pay for the tour. Skip-the-line ticket with audio guide, self-guided
The same Colosseum as the official ticket — tiers 1 and 2 at a fixed time, Forum and Palatine within 24 hours — with an audio guide app and booking in your language, without waiting for 9 am thirty days ahead. Non-refundable. It is often sold out several weeks in advance: the calendar tells you when places remain.
Why €18 officially and more elsewhere?
The two do not sell the same thing. The table below sums up what you buy in each case.

In short: if you can be online at 9 am Rome time thirty days before your visit, and do not need a refund, the official ticket office is the cheapest. If you book earlier, later, or once the official tickets are gone, the platforms sell the same monument with a service on top, at a price that reflects it.

Spotting an overpriced ticket
The Colosseum attracts many resellers, and not all are honest. A few pointers:
- A "skip-the-line" ticket alone at more than €40, with no guide, audio guide or extra site, is the €18 official ticket resold at twice its price. Serious options justify the gap with content: audio guide, Mamertine Prison, arena floor, guide.
- "Skip the line" does not mean no waiting. Every dated ticket bypasses the ticket desk; nobody bypasses security. A site promising "zero waiting" is exaggerating.
- An "underground ticket" without a guide does not exist. The hypogeum can only be visited with a licensed guide. A "self-guided underground" option is at best a view of the hypogeum from the arena floor.
- A ticket without a name does not get in. Tickets are named and checked against ID. A seller who does not ask for your names is selling a ticket that risks being refused.

On Tiqets, each option has its own youth and child fares, shown when you choose your tickets; the €2 "EU citizen 18-25" rate exists only on the official ticket office.
Can you get in free?
Yes, on four days of the year, for everyone: the first Sunday of each month (the national "Domenica al museo" scheme), 25 April (Liberation Day), 2 June (Republic Day) and 4 November. Entry is still at a fixed time: you need a free ticket, booked online with a €2 fee or collected at the desk on the day, and it is the busiest time of the year. The arena floor, underground and attic are not open on those days. Outside those dates, the Colosseum can be seen free from outside, day and night, from Piazza del Colosseo, the Arch of Constantine and the terrace of the Palatine.
Roma Pass and Rome Tourist Card
Two passes come up in every search, and they do not work the same way.
- The Roma Pass is the city's official pass: 48 hours of public transport and one entry, or 72 hours and two entries, from some forty sites including the Colosseum. The Colosseum is not "included" without formalities: you have to book your slot on the official ticket office, with a €2 fee, as soon as you buy the pass. It is sold on Tiqets and by the tourist office; it pays off if you use public transport and visit at least one other paid site.
- The Rome Tourist Card (from €100) is a bundle of Tiqets tickets, 100% digital: the Colosseum with its slot, the Vatican Museums or Castel Sant'Angelo, and a third visit of your choice. No transport, but nothing to collect and slots chosen at purchase.

The official "24h Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine" ticket costs €18, plus a €2 online booking fee, so €20. It covers tiers 1 and 2 of the Colosseum at a fixed time, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill within 24 hours. Tickets with the arena floor, underground or attic ("Full Experience") cost €24 plus €2.
Because it is not the same product. The archaeological park's ticket office sells the bare ticket, at the price set by the ministry, with no refund or date change, thirty days ahead only. The platforms sell the ticket with a service — booking in your language, audio guide, guide, slots open earlier or still available when the official ones are gone — and their prices vary with the date.
Not as such. The reduced rate, €2, is reserved for EU citizens aged 18 to 25, students or not. A 30-year-old student or a non-EU student pays full price. Under-18s from any country enter free but must have a named ticket booked.
Yes, by €2: the online booking fee does not apply at the desk. But the ticket offices on Piazza del Colosseo and Largo della Salara Vecchia only sell what is left for the same day, and in season there is usually nothing left before late afternoon, if at all.
An official ticket, no: the purchase is final, with no change of date or time, and the name can only be changed once, no later than seven days before the visit, for specific reasons. On Tiqets, the skip-the-line ticket, the Mamertine ticket, the classic guided tour and the arena tickets are non-refundable; the small-group guided tours are refundable up to 72 hours before.
Official prices are the same all year. On the platforms, however, the price depends on the date and on how full the slot is: when only a few places remain, the day's price of a guided tour can rise well above its base price. The calendar on this page shows the real price of each day.

Entry is still at a fixed time and you need a free ticket booked online (€2 fee) or collected at the desk; crowds are very heavy and the arena floor and underground are not open on those days.
